Background and Experience
I have been teaching since 2006, and on my journey to becoming Assistant Principal, the thing which has always been a constant is my love of History. My specialism is modern History, and I am fascinated in learning about new perspectives and diversifying our understanding of the past, and sharing this with the students I teach. Having taught across the Humanities and Sociology, I am able to draw upon multiple disciplines and my aim is to inspire students to see how their experiences connect to the world around them, and how they can make a positive difference both in their own lives and in wider society.
Prior to joining Magna, I have worked in three schools and undertaken a number of leadership roles, my most recent being Leader of CPD which involved planning and leading training and professional development for teachers in a large, outstanding comprehensive school and across the multi-academy trust. I am currently studying the NPQ in Leading Teacher Development and have recently completed the Diverse Educators leadership programme, both of which have provided a strong foundation for contributing to Magna’s strategic vision of inclusivity, aspiration and empowerment.
I find it a joy to be living and working in Dorset; as a family we love exploring different beaches and the incredible coastline through rowing and paddle boarding, and we also enjoy the creative arts, theatre, live music and visiting local heritage sites.
I am proud to be part of the team at Magna and I look forward to contributing to the academy’s culture of hard work, excellence and kindness.
Three personal Values

- Empathy – show understanding, care and respect towards others
- Collaboration – celebrate each other’s strengths and build a stronger community together
My Favourite Educational Quote:
“IT IS THE SUPREME ART OF THE TEACHER TO AWAKEN JOY IN CREATIVE EXPRESSION AND KNOWLEDGE.”
