CORONAVIRUS NEWS: Latest government advice

The latest government guidance is based upon the most recent scientific advice on how to further limit the spread of COVID-19 is clear. This advice states that if children can stay safely at home, they should do so, to limit the chance of the virus spreading.

Whilst they have asked schools to remain open to provide care for a limited number of children (children who are vulnerable and children whose parents are key workers critical to the Covid-19 response) this is only in the case that these children cannot remain safely at home.

Therefore, as many parents/carers of these children may be able to ensure their child is kept at home safely they should do so. Provision in school is the last resort.

Thursday, 12 March: 11:30am

We are closely monitoring events relating to the virus as they unfold and we are following the guidance given from the Government. If we are instructed to close the school, we have contingency plans in place so that students can continue their education from home using our Virtual School facilities.

Resources will be available on our website, in order to minimise the disruption to learning for our students.

In the event of a school closure, we will contact all parents/carers by email, text and letter and provide further guidance on our Virtual School facilities. We will give guidance for families and students of how to access it, what resources are available and provide an example structured programme for students to follow.

Wednesday, 11 March: 08:30am

We have received some email enquiries regarding rumours that Magna Academy is either closing or preparing for closure in response to the spread of Covid-19 in the UK. These rumours are false and should be disregarded.

At Magna, we remain open and continue to operate as usual.

As you might expect, we are closely monitoring events as they unfold and are following Government advice at all times. If you are awaiting updates, please rest assured that they will appear on this website home page. We will inform parents and carers very quickly if we have to close and will have contingency plans in place so that students can continue their education from home using our Virtual School facilities.

For more information on our Trust's approach to the Coronavirus situation, please follow this link to a letter that was recently sent home to all parents and carers.
