Virtual School

Welcome to Magna Academy's Virtual School. We hope you find this service helpful to you.

As students now cannot attend the physical school at Magna until it is deemed safe to do so, we have made arrangements to ensure that programmes of work can still be followed from home.

Here is a helpful guide to this site:    Student Guide to Using Virtual School

For students, the following procedure was set in place on the last day before closing:

  • The Principal notified all families by letter, email, text and website announcement. On-going updates were placed on the website as a priority.

  • All students were given a Weekly Timetable for structured home learning by their Tutor.

  • All students in Years 7 to 11 have been re-issued their Hegarty Maths login information by their Tutor.

  • All students in Years 10 and 11 have been re-issued their Tassomai Science login information by their Tutor.

  • All students have been given a login for Google Classroom and information on how to access it.

  • All students have been given a login for SENECA and information on how to access it.
Seneca is an excellent free online learning resource, which is intuitive and enables pupils to learn faster.
We recommend using this resource during the closure of Magna Academy, in line with the ‘Home Learning Planner’. Seneca follows the GCSE and A Level specifications set by the exam boards, which is in line with what we teach at Magna Academy. Years 7 to 9 also follows the National Curriculum for each subject. You can find Seneca by using the link in the left hand column on this page.
You do not have to set up an account to use Seneca, but if you wish to, please click the ‘Sign up’ button in the right hand corner of the screen and follow these instructions:
► Click on ‘Students, start here’ in the middle of the screen
► Select appropriate ‘Age group’ down left hand side task bar
► Select relevant subject in the main screen (looking for the relevant exam board Y10 to 13)
                          ► Click ‘Start Learning’

  • Tutors have ensured that all students have a Knowledge Organiser and a new Practice Book.

  • On 19 March, we added a new feature, Maths Mastery. This external resource offers content in English and Maths, including material suitable for younger brothers and sisters of Magna students.

These are all essential tools for attending Virtual School during this period of closure.

If you are unable to access any of the information you need to keep working then please click here to use this contact facility. Your Head of Year will ensure that, if the information cannot be obtained via the website, it can be mailed directly to you at home.
