A-Level Results 2020
Stunning Students, Excellent Results
Every year we celebrate the academic success of our students, whatever that represents for the individual. This year we are absolutely thrilled to achieve our best ever A Level results, following three years of steady improvement.
These are excellent results by any comparison and congratulations are due to students and their teachers who have worked tirelessly to ensure this success is possible. This is a fair reflection of their efforts, despite such turbulent times.
We are very proud of Ramona Williams and Rebecca Peacock who gained stunning results achieving all A/A* grades – but equally proud of all those students who achieved their best through endeavour and hard work. 100% of students achieved A*-C in their A Levels and BTEC equivalent.
Our students will now progress onto a range of destinations including university and apprenticeships.
Particular mention should go to both Owen King who will be studying Biomedical Science and Caitlin Sullivan studying Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology at the University of Portsmouth. This year three quarters of our leavers have successfully gained places at university.
As a vibrant and growing sixth form it is important that prospective students can now join us with the confidence that they will experience an outstanding education here at Magna Academy Sixth Form. This outstanding provision and individualised support will see them achieve the very best grades, leading to incredibly bright futures for them all.
Individual Success Stories
We are all extremely proud of Ramona’s continued hard work and dedication throughout her education at Magna, but we are also excited to watch her progress in the world of education as she realises her ambition of becoming an English teacher herself. Ramona wants to be a teacher so that she can “find the potential in others and help them realise it”.
Ramona tells us that she had a challenging time earlier in her education, and at times was not committed, and that the “relentless support and encouragement” from Magna staff helped to motivate her. She was successfully elected at Deputy Head Girl in year 11, a role that she took incredibly seriously and highlighted her leadership potential.

After completing her GCSEs at Magna Rebecca auditioned and was successful in gaining a place at Ballet West in Argyle. However after two weeks she realised she needed a greater challenge and she felt she could “fulfil her academic potential at Magna”. Part of her decision to return to Magna Academy was down to her “amazing teachers at GCSE”. Having joined the sixth form late, Rebecca’s meticulous and diligent approach to her studies have been evident throughout the two years.
