The Year 7 boys football team produced another fine display to register their second victory in as many matches.

Making the short trip to a local school on Monday afternoon, the year 7 boys picked up where they left off before half term, impressing from the whistle and scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes to stamp their authority on the fixture. Harley Ricketts tapped in to notch his first of the afternoon and Bailey Doe drove in his 3rd goal of the season from outside the area. However, Magna did let their foot off the gas a little mid-way through the first half and were punished for it with the opposition firing in from close range to half the deficit. It wasn’t long before Magna reasserted themselves though, winger Noah Banwell opening his Magna Academy account with a nice finish into the corner after being one-on-one with the goalkeeper. 3-1 to Magna at half time.

The second half started with another 10 minute blip for Magna, with the opposition finding the net again, albeit this time the offside flag coming to Magna’s aid. A close shave. Harley Ricketts would soon put the game beyond any doubt though, with another fine finish from close range. Harley then went on to complete his hat-trick 5 minutes later, the striker proving deadly within the penalty area as he now leads the scoring charts with 5 goals after 3 matches. Noah Banwell made sure that Harley wasn’t taking the match ball home on his own though, with 2 almost identical short range finishes in as many minutes to grab a hat-trick of his own. Full time, and an impressive 7-1 win.

Mr Ginger and Coach Neil would also like to mention:  the excellent, commanding performance from centre back and skipper James Harris; the controlling fashion in which centre midfielder Harry Brodie dictated the play; and the way in which the whole squad adapted their shape and tactics to overcome the opposition throughout. Despite the way the result looks on paper, the year 7 boys did have to be resolute and navigate some tough periods of play under pressure to be able to come away with the victory. Well done to all and on to the next one!
