Magna Academy welcomed local MP Michael Tomlinson, to join a debate with our students about the pressing issues currently facing the country and the world.

The Magna Academy students asked Mr Tomlinson a range of questions about the key issues facing today’s Britain which shows they are highly informed about what is currently happening in their country.

Students wanted to challenge him on his government’s policy about sending refugees to Rwanda and wanted to know what more the government was going to do about the cost of living crisis. Students from years 7 through to sixth form, also wanted to discuss the war in Russia and human rights for all global citizens. It really showed that young people are interested in politics and have political viewpoints and the confidence to hold their MP to account.
