After a tough campaign where Ryan focused on the prevention and education of knife crime, Magna Academy are extremely proud to announce that Ryan has been duly elected as one of the two Members of Youth Parliament (MYP) for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP).

Ryan gained 38% of the overall vote with over 2400 supporters and will join fellow MYP Elliot for a two year tenure as the voice and representative for young people in the BCP area.

Ryan, who is currently one of Magna’s Year 11 Head Prefects, encourages all students to follow his lead and take advantage of student leadership opportunities that give young people a platform to evoke changes in areas of passion and significance to them. The entire campaigning process, which included a hustings speech that was delivered to observers at Bournemouth Civic Town Hall, has helped Ryan with his public speaking skills and his confidence to take control of effecting change.

Ryan is very much in demand and has recorded an episode of the Aspirations Voice podcast, so watch this space!

Mr Ginger, Coordinator of Student Leadership, Culture & Competition at Magna Academy, said “Ryan has made all of us here at Magna Academy and the Aspirations Trust so proud with this phenomenal achievement. The way in which Ryan conducted himself throughout the whole campaigning process was absolutely first class and he really deserves this fantastic opportunity. On behalf of every student, staff member and parent that forms our academy and trust community, I would like to wish Ryan huge congratulations and the very best of luck for his two-year tenure – we will always be right behind you!”
