Congratulations to Josh I (Qualifier) in Year 7 and Josh I (Bronze Certificate) in Year 8 who had outstanding performances in this year’s Junior Kangaroo. Magna has never had a certificate awarded other than qualification in the last ten years, so this really is a fantastic achievement!
The Junior Kangaroo is a follow-on Round to the Junior Maths Challenge (JMC) and is a 60 minute, 25 multiple choice challenge. Entry to the Junior Kangaroo is by invitation based on a qualifying JMC score. Several thousand of the top performing UK-based students qualify from the JMC each year.
The UKMT is the UK member of the Association Kangourou sans Frontières, a collaborative association whose purpose is to promote mathematics among young people worldwide. Around six million young people take Kangaroo competitions each year. The name Kangaroo acknowledges the contribution made by Australia to establishing large-scale mathematics contests.
