Background and Experience

After graduating from University I was delighted to be appointed as a Sports Development Officer for a large City Council. I was tasked to work closely with many local and national organisations to provide new and exciting opportunities for communities that had very little provision in place.

About 80% of my role was spent working with young people and their families from a disadvantaged background. Some of my most memorable experiences came from helping families develop stronger relationships with their local school and the positive impact this had on improving their life chances. I found these experiences to be so rewarding that I soon returned back to university to train as a secondary PE teacher.

Since qualifying as a teacher in 2007, I have experienced being a Subject Coordinator, a whole school more able lead practitioner, a pastoral middle leader, assistant headteacher responsible for key stage 4 raising standards, an assistant headteacher responsible for sixth form provision and as a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) deployed to support other schools in raising standards. I have been fortunate enough to work in three excellent school environments that mirrored my ethos of being inclusive of every child and the unique needs of the community they serve.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Magna Academy so far and am excited about being part of the team that will further improve the academy for our local community.

Three Personal Values

  • Kindness- treating others the way you want to be treated.
  • Courage – doing what you believe needs to be done — not in the absence of fear but in spite of it.
  • Growth – looking for opportunities to grow as a person and to help others grow, too.

My Favourite Educational Quote:
"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today."
