With 18 fantastic volunteers supporting 180 students across two action-packed days, the energy, creativity and teamwork on display was truly inspiring. Students dived into the world of entrepreneurship — learning how to turn ideas into businesses while developing essential power skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. Even more importantly, they were building confidence and character along the way.Working alongside real employers and volunteers, students gained valuable insight into the world of work — and had a lot of fun doing it!

Quotes from our year 9 students:

“I didn’t realise how much work goes into starting a business – but it was really exciting to come up with our own ideas.”

“Working with the volunteers helped us see how these skills are used in real jobs.”

“I loved collaborating with my team and pitching our product. It made me feel really confident!”

“It was one of the most fun school days we’ve had – we learned loads without it feeling like a lesson.”

A huge thank you to our 18 brilliant volunteers who gave their time and expertise to support our students. Experiences like this bring learning to life and help our young people see the exciting possibilities ahead.

I was so impressed with your Year 9s as they embraced the challenge of working together in groups to creatively solve our business challenge.  Witnessing the employability skills that they demonstrated throughout the day was fantastic, they did so well and are a real credit to The Magna Academy.  I know I was not alone in thinking this as many of the volunteers commented on how well they thought the teams had done and what fantastic young people they are!
