Background and Experience

Growing up in Birmingham, I was very fortunate that my own school experience was very positive. Attending Plantsbrook School in Sutton Coldfield, I was inspired by passionate subject specialists and encouraged to share my thinking and justify my opinions from an early age. This, coupled with my parent’s strong belief that I must work hard, participate fully and always try my best, enabled me to make the most of all opportunities in school such as taking part in plays, sports teams and educational visits.

Before heading to university to study Modern History and Political Science, I worked in retail, starting at the Gap and later as a manager for Ted Baker. As a fast-track graduate, I progressed quickly to senior leadership and have been a senior leader for just over 13 years. Six of those years has been spent leading the transformation of an improving Academy within challenging circumstances and then driving improvements within an outstanding rural school and emerging Multi Academy Trust.

I have extensive expertise in school improvement, 16-19 strategy and curriculum and assessment. I have a strong moral purpose with real ambition to transform the lives of young people for the better. Being Principal of Magna Academy is a huge source of pride as I feel incredibly privileged to lead the Academy.

Finally, I am a mother of three fantastic children and enjoy making the most of living in Dorset – spending time at the coast and watching live football, music and theatre when I can.

Three Personal Values

  • Always try your best
  • Learn from mistakes and failures, don’t make the same mistake twice
  • Take care of those close to you and treat all others with respect

My Favourite Educational Quote:
"EDUCATION IS THE PASSPORT TO THE FUTURE, FOR TOMORROW BELONGS TO THOSE WHO PREPARE FOR IT TODAY."
Malcolm X (1964)
